The Regional Secretary, Tony Griffiths and the Regional Committee extend their congratulations and good wishes to all bands for their performance in Durham this year. Below is the list of percussion provided by Ray Payne for the 2017 contest. We will send sheets with all other final instructions in the next few days.
Please note that NO STICKS WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE NOEBBC OR RAY PAYNE THIS YEAR. All bands MUST provide their own.
All percussionist will be allowed to view the percussion on stage as usual during the adjudicator changeover.
The Timpani will be static as usual between the trombones and the basses.
Finally can I remind all bands of the four minute rule. Once the stage crew has your percussion plan they can set the stage to your requirements. Once again due to a small number of bands, insist on setting the stage themselves, or move items after the stage has been set according to their plan, the four minutes will be counted from this point.
We are here to help !! we use this system in order to maintain security, health and safety and the smooth running order of bands throughout the weekend.

A member of one of the competing bands appears to have inadvertently picked up three pairs of timpani sticks from the area where the bands leave the stage. The sticks in question are hand made by David Morbey and have a small sticker near the top of the cane shaft next to the felt which says:
610 David Morbey Timpani Sticks, 620 David Morbey Timpani Sticks and 630 David Morbey Timpani sticks. One of the 620s has some blue electrical tape around the cane shaft.
These sticks are professional sticks and cost £100.00 per pair
If they are not returned to either the organisers or to Ray Payne (0777 937 8877) then Ray will have no alternative but to stop providing percussion for the Northern Area Championships in the future.
Please ask your band members and percussionist and ask again !!. If anyone want to contact me in confidence please do so on firstname.lastname@example.org
Easington Band also lost a tenor horn mute, with a yellow sticker , marked FELLING BAND . Can you please check your mutes.
